One Beautiful Place

by Mr. Schnell

I needed a break from impeachment updates, politics, and the nation’s new normal; “INSANITY and LIES” from the current GOP Washington DC. Taped below the desktop computer monitor screen is my Glacier Point Yosemite photo. Not the best picture ever taken (not by a long shot) but that doesn’t diminish one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited rain or shine!

I took the photograph in hand, stared closely at it, smiled, and wished I could be there right now. The photo would do (that and all the mental pictures of my past visits there it conjured up).

I took a look out the window and smiled again. There was a visitor in the backyard.

The shell corn basin I leave in the woods must be empty. He is after the sunflower bird seed. So I go into the woods after the deer took off to refill the feed. I was stalked by the neighbor hood community cat.

I can’t enter that little patch of cedars without this guy following. He likes hanging out in the woods and, I must admit, I enjoy his company.

I asked him what he thinks about all this impeachment stuff.

Silence.

He didn’t want to discuss it.

Ya know, neither did I. Don’t even know why I brought it up.

I poured shell corn into the empty basin. Bunky, the community cat, headed off into the bush. He’s not into politics. He’s into “Fancy Feast”, “Meow Mix”, and field mice. I feel like I learn a lot from him.

Time to head home and read a good book. Peace out.
