Underground Cartoonist is a former ICU nurse that has worked at numerous civilian, military, and veteran Intensive Care Units across the country for better than three decades but has been sketching, drawing, and cartooning since he first picked up a crayon in kindergarten. Dabbled with political cartooning, writing, and general illustrations but the bread and butter came from health care. Recently left professional nursing to concentrate on camping, hiking, nature, the outdoors, trees, trails, and peace of mind. Love a campfire; rather watch it than TV. Avoid bureaucracy, career ladders, ladder climbers, and hero worship at all cost. Evenings spent with a good book, reading until the book smacks my nose when I doze off. Indeed sound advice, but difficult for someone who buries the dead for a living, and has an elderly father with dementia who has spent the last 3 years in the last year of his life, and a loving wife who he wishes to live with.
We had two greys pulling the hearse today, lovely boys, but the grey hairs make a right mess of a black suit. I have an allergy to horses so have had a rather allergic day, and all the while wondering- “was that a corona cough?”.
Tomorrow will be a new start, new regs kick in all services in Crematorium Chapels, no more church services, limit of 25 people will be interesting to enforce, and still represents a risk that, I believe would not have been tolerated in China.
I am having a difficult time explaining to the boss that our brand new 8 seater Limousines, (£130,000 a piece), are persona non grata in the war on virus.
Keep up the good work Mr Schnell, I well try to follow your advice as best I can.

35 years ago I was invincible and had an answer for everything. Today my aching back and knees remind me of my invincibility and everything I used to know I have forgotten. Have you seen my coffee?

Hmmm… “Mr. Schnell”… sort of like “Mr. Roberts”, except You dealt with crazy Doctors who outrank You, and he dealt with a crazy Captain who outranked him.

When you find a doctor that works with you and you with them and respect each other’s particular skills and strengths the job gets done without pulling rank. Working nights the awake and diligent bedside nurse outranked the sleeping…
