Recently poor neglected and abused man-child “The Donald” had a virtual town hall at the Lincoln Memorial. Once again he felt the need to invoke the name of our 16th president Abraham Lincoln.
Tearfully he cried, “They always said, ‘Lincoln, nobody treated worse than Lincoln.‘ I believe I am treated worse.”
We are currently in a corona virus pandemic that has killed over 70,000 Americans in less than four months and Trump, Commander-in-Chief of United States Armed Forces, 45th President Of The United States, and father-in-law of Jar-jar Kushner is whining because the press doesn’t kiss his ass everyday like Pence, Barr, and Pompeo.
I am not going to put up a compare and contrast list of characteristics between Abraham Lincoln and Donald Trump because there is no comparison, only contrast. For the right wingers that may read this I will keep it simple. Lincoln good. Trump bad.
Every chance Trump gets he denigrates our assassinated 16th President starting with using a Lincoln Bible while taking the oath of office, an oath he has publicly abused from day one!
Lincoln was a great president and a great man. He died for his country. He survived numerous assassination attempts while keeping this country together during a Great Civil War. He was gunned down five days after the end of the war on April 14, 1865.
Donald is a bone spur draft dodger with a yellow stripe down his back for cowardice. He has the United States Secret Service protecting him from the boogey man. Lincoln had no such protection. People in the 1800s had grit and stamina and didn’t eat at Kentucky Fired Chicken, Taco Bell or McDonalds and dodged musket fire by ducking not hiding behind sacrificial lambs.
Lincoln died when a coward snuck up behind him and shot him in the back of the head and ran away while shitting his pants.
Lets talk about that coward. He was an actor like Donald was on “The Apprentice”. He was a southern sympathizer much like Donald and he hated the President from Illinois, much like Trump hates Obama. Lincoln’s coward assassin was a racist. Trump may not be a racist … he has black friends just like his secretary of state Mark Meadows has black friends (please note the cynical sarcasm strategically placed here). Trump is a racist.
Trump basically follows the assassin’s political philosophy. Not only that, he is the assassin’s namesake.
Trump was named after Lincoln’s assassin. That is what I think anyway. I could be wrong but Trump never is. He told us so many times.
Another thing about Lincoln that is interesting. When he was 28 years old he predicted a person like Trump coming into power. He gave a speech January 27, 1838. His “Address Before The Young Men’s Lyceum Of Springfield, Illinois” clearly describes narcissistic, self-professed stable genius Trump.
Here is a quote from that speech:
” Towering genius distains a beaten path. It seeks regions hitherto unexplored.–It sees no distinction in adding story to story, upon the monuments of fame, erected to the memory of others. It denies that it is glory enough to serve under any chief. It scorns to tread in the footsteps of any predecessor, however illustrious. It thirsts and burns for distinction; and, if possible, it will have it, whether at the expense of emancipating slaves, or enslaving freemen. Is it unreasonable then to expect, that some man possessed of the loftiest genius, coupled with ambition sufficient to push it to its utmost stretch, will at some time, spring up among us? And when such a one does, it will require the people to be united with each other, attached to the government and laws, and generally intelligent, to successfully frustrate his designs.“

Every time Trump invokes the Lincoln name it is an abomination. Trump is anathema to all Lincoln stood for and died for.
Trump gets the typical ribbing every President gets. He ain’t treated bad, but if he were it ain’t bad enough in my book. The minute he came down that escalator spewing hate and division he started an ugly war of words with associated bad behavior. Game on asshole!

“As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Have you read Lincoln’s Lyseum address? If not, it is worth reading. Lincoln was an amazing intellect, writer with no formal education. I reread this speech now and again. brilliant and he was so young at the time. Lincoln states a problem and provides a solution.

Well… I finally held a gun to my head and forced myself to read Lincoln’s Lyceum address. I consider myself to be a fairly literate person, but I admit that I had to work fairly hard to keep up with his turn of phrase. This is not a criticism, merely an observation.
He is eerily correct about Ki45*TF, except for the “towering genius” part, which would be more appropriately applied to Ki45*TF’s Enablers (I.e. Evil Turtle Moscow Mitch SUPERslimy McC, FOXED UP NEWS, etc.) and Masters (Vlad The Puppeteer, The Kochs, The Mercers, etc.).
Like the Founding Fathers, however, he was incorrect about The People’s ability to oppose this threat, because, like the Founding Fathers, he did not foresee the Simultaneous Corruption of The Presidency (Ki45*TF), The Senate (Evil Turtle Moscow Mitch SUPERslimy McC), The Judiciary (KeggerNow, Gorsucks, and all of the other Unqualified Hacks and Toadies forced in by Evil Turtle Moscow Mitch SUPERslimy McC), The Red State Governments, and The Press (FOXED UP NEWS, etc.) by The GOPOCRITE COVERUPUBLICAN Party (The ‘Party Of Lincoln’, bitter irony there).

The republican party of 1860 was more like today’s Democratic party. times change so do political parties. I have read the Federalist papers and our founding fathers (the elitist rich dudes of their day) considered foreign intervention/interference. Smart brilliant prescient group of individuals that faced death if they failed. they had a lot to lose and victory was not guaranteed at all. I am by no means an expert on this stuff but our founding fathers and revolutionary times populace gutsy, tough.

And Today’s Republican Party is more like The Southern Democratic Party of the first half of The Twentieth Century.
The Parties kind of ‘Swapped Places’ in the Late ‘50s and Early ‘60s, and those new positions were ‘Set In Stone’ by Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”.

Prior to 1860 The United States had slaves. After the civil war no more slavery and a constitutional amendment outlawing slavery now on the books. Lincoln murdered. Booth made Lincoln a martyr. History moved on. Andrew “drunkard” Johnson took office, then war hero Grant. To the victor go the spoils. Hate never went away and it will never go away. hate is part of man’s DNA. Mankind will never evolve beyond a primitive state but it has potential. I just don’t have faith that further higher level evolution will happen. The faults of mankind’s character are too great to overcome to evolve into a non warring, peaceful, nonterritorial creature. There will always be atrocity, war, chaos, and tragedy I am sad to say but that is man.
