I am a retired Registered Nurse, but an active writer, cartoonist, illustrator, graphic artist, and tree hugger. For three years after earning my nursing degree I was a Naval Nurse Corps Officer because I wished to “serve” my country. I did. Mission accomplished. I returned to the civilian sector to enjoy the freedoms one gives up to “serve”. Free to write, draw, and return to my preferred nursing specialty (adult post operative open heart and transplant heart recovery), I have never looked back nor have I ever again underestimated the value of controlling the direction for my life.
