How exactly does Alphabet, Google, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Amazon, YouTube, and Instagram make money? When you talk about making money these Silicon Valley tech companies are raking it in. But how exactly?
A friend of mine asked me if I really wanted an answer to my question. I told him, “YES!”
He handed me a hardback copy of the book “THE AGE OF SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM; The Fight For A Human Future At The New Frontier of Power” by tenured Harvard business professor Shoshana Zuboff.
He added, “Read it slowly. Take your time. It is well written, intelligent, eye opening. It will answer your question and much more. Enjoy”.

My friend was right. It answered my question and more. I read the first 100 pages slowly over four days. Went back and reread. I even took notes. I had no idea of the scope of Google, Facebook, Apple, and Twitters data mining tentacles or the effect on my privacy (gone) and even the sanctuary I once believed was my home (gone also).

Professor Zuboff incorporates sociology, psychology, economics, computer and political science among other specialties to illustrate her points “in this masterwork of original thinking and research” (quote taken from inside jacket cover).
The Silicon Valley tech giants have gone way beyond making money. They are taking control in ways I could not imagine. I urge you to read this book.
