About Wearing A Mask

by Mr. Schnell

All you gotta do is go outside to the local park and start walking with a mask on and it will trigger someone into an anti-mask rage. I just keep on walking, mask hiding my smile. Ahh pissed off another one!

Remember when “MYOB” was the standard. Mind Your Own Business. Not today. Today everyone is into other people’s business. They just have to see what you are doing, have to comment, criticize, give you the stink eye, even make a scene. It has something to do with social media I am sure. I just keep on walking. I might even let my shoe lace untie and purposely not retie it … oh that will compound whatever insult my mere presence wearing a mask started.

I also carry some of my cartoons with me; cut outs I have laminated.

It is their favorite color, ORANGE, and it is kinda cute in a sick, demented sorta way but I never get any takers. Ah well, maybe tomorrow.

Things will not get better without a vaccine.

Underground Cartoonist is a former ICU nurse that has worked at numerous civilian, military, and veteran Intensive Care Units across the country for better than three decades but has been sketching, drawing, and cartooning since he first picked up a crayon in kindergarten. Dabbled with political cartooning, writing, and general illustrations but the bread and butter came from health care. Recently left professional nursing to concentrate on camping, hiking, nature, the outdoors, trees, trails, and peace of mind. Love a campfire; rather watch it than TV. Avoid bureaucracy, career ladders, ladder climbers, and hero worship at all cost. Evenings spent with a good book, reading until the book smacks my nose when I doze off. Generally up at sun rise, listen to the mourning doves, put the coffee on, and play it by ear the rest of the day.

  1. This mask business is really odd, how some have taken against it. It’s the same here in the UK, mainly far right-wingers getting really up-tight. The rules have been a bit vague up till now but it’s suddenly compulsory in shops from the 24th (weirdly not in pubs though, where I think the danger is greater) Good thing about masks of course is they hide your face which makes that sinister facial recognition technology pointless. You keep well.

  2. Yeah, I’m giving my two-weeks notice today when I hit the office. It’s gonna suck for them, but I’m less and less comfortable around people right now. I hear so much grumbling about the mask thing that I am positive that these same folks do the bare minimum when not in a business (because in Texas they’re all requiring masks). I am also concerned about the school thing and what might happen there, so yeah, I don’t wanna be helping kids from multiple schools in the fall. It sucks, because I like it, but I have no clue what our state will do next.

I’d rather find a job I can do from home right now, and mask and glove up otherwise.
